New Blog
Since I've been posting so much about golf lately, I decided to create a blog
devoted to golf. It's over in the green box under blogs of note and is called
Even Par Round. It's a pretty blog that uses my favorite color - neon
lime green.

Celebrated Too Soon
I finally saw what the blog looks like with the changes that Blogger suggested.
Part of the post disappears underneath the sidebar. They claim they will
be working on a better solution. So, I am still hopeful that this can be
salvaged.

Thank You Blogger!
Yay, the blogger folks provided me with a solution to the big space problem I've been experiencing on this blog. Now my blog will look pretty again and my visitors won't get carpel tunnel trying to scroll down to see my posts!!!

When Technology Meets Primitive Feral Drive
I have an email program on my pc that allows for notifiers to pop up and tell you when you have new email. This program is called Incredimail. Well, for a very long time the notifier has been a cute little dog that barks to let you know you have new mail. The other day, Mom changed it to a cat that meows when we get new mail. At the time I'm sure Mom thought this was cute. But unfortunately, when the dogs notice it, they go off chasing the house cat thinking it's the house cat that's meowing.
Have you ever heard the bluegrass version of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"? If not, click here to check out Dale Ann Bradley.

I'm currently reading the book, "Somewhere in Ireland, A Village is Missing an Idiot," written by golfer and CBS announcer David Feherty. This book is spectaularly hilarious! I figured it would be entertaining because David Feherty is entertaining. But it is a real treasure. You all should read it. Even though it is largely about golf, it doesn't take a golfer or a golf fan to enjoy it and understand what Feherty's trying to say. I can't wait to get his other books and to see and hear him again on a CBS sportscast.

Something weird is going on with Blogger
For some reason, my post is being placed on the blog well down on the page after the green box??? I don't know what is going on. I will have to take a look at the template later if this continues. It really sucks. Another reason I hate computer crap - for no good reason this stuff just screws up. I swear computers have minds of their own and will rise up and take over the world one day and enslave the human populace.
Fritz
Fritz has been sick for the last few days so Mom and Dad took him to the vet today while I was at work. It turns out he has the same thing Steffi had a while back - eating something bad. So, now Fritz has to deal with the pills and stuff. He was a good boy though and didn't fight the vet.

About a Book
I read Alias: Collateral Damage today. Two things that bothered me: 1) everyone called everyone else by their first name. Doesn't happen in the TV show. 2) It's Milo Rambaldi, not Carlos Rimbaldi.

Nature = Frightening
I went to let Fritz outside because he was acting like he needed to go. I opened the door, and he ran out without looking, as usual. He ran right between two baby raccoons who were hissing and clawing around ferociously. In an effort to protect my baby (Fritz) I went out too and tried to shoo the raccoons off the porch. They were not intimidated, and continued to hiss. Fritz wanted to get after them, but I kept yelling at him. Eventually Fritz ran back into the house, I followed and shut the door tightly, leaving the raccoons to do whatever it was they wanted to do. They didn't eat any of the catfood, so I don't know what their purpose on the porch was. It was a bit scary with all that hissing and clawing the raccoons were doing. It reminded me of the Gremlins movie, or the little alien babies on Galaxy Quest. Considering raccoons are primarily nocturnal animals it was rare to see them in daylight. I think they might have lost their mom and are trying to fend for themselves. In a way I feel for the little guys, but they will be dead if Dad ever sees them - they are high on the list of rabies carriers. Not to mention, I'm sure it would really hurt if they clawed or bit me.

I'm watching a tribute to George Lucas tonight on tv. Harrison Ford is there with Callista Flockhart. That got me to wondering - No one raised much of a fuss when those two got together, but Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes get together and everyone is talking about the age difference. Hmmm.............. I think maybe Cruise might be getting more press not because of the age difference itself, but because of who he is and how he's acting all nuts now.
Batman Begins
Does anyone know if there's romance in this movie? I'd be interested in seeing it if Batman had a girlfriend.

I just watched the latest installment of the CMT Crossroads show with Ronnie Milsap and Los Lonely Boys. It was a really good show. It was really sweet how Los Lonely Boys would show their fondness for Ronnie Milsap. Apparently they are big fans of his and grew up listening to his music. On the show, it would show them breaking out into a Ronnie Milsap song at the drop of a hat. I may have to check out their cd. And Ronnie's. I've been eyeing his greatest hits cds but haven't been willing to part with the money as yet.
I just thought I would post the results of the US Open since I've spent so much time watching it and posting about it:

Congratulations Michael Campbell
Michael Campbell, from New Zealand, has won the US Open Golf Championship. I remember Campbell from the 1995 British Open and it's good that he has finally won a Major. He had really great shots all day and really great putts. I was hoping he would win with a total score of somewhere under par because of Phil Mickelson's comment that it could be a score of double digits over par that would win, but I think Campbell finished up even par for the tournament. This achievement is even more impressive when you note that Campbell gained entry into the tournament through qualifying in sectional play. Many of the other players near the top had exemptions and such. So, congratulations to Michael Campbell. I will have to find out when and where he's playing next.
Did I find him?
At work we were informed of a person search engine on the Web called Zabasearch. So, out of curiosity, I went there a few minutes ago to see if I could find Jason Gore, who is playing in the final group with Retief Goosen in the US Open. I believe I might have found Mr. Gore. This may not be a good thing for him. But Zabasearch can provide an address or the month and year an individual was born or sometimes it provides a phone number. So, it isn't truly exact and I would have to spend a little money to actually find out if this is him. Like a stamp, envelope, and letter. But it seems to be a pretty good person search tool.
Know Your Advertisers
I'm watching the US Open golf tournament and Dan Hicks was mentioning some of the advertisers paying for NBC's coverage of the event. One of the companies is Quizno's subs. Hicks, seemingly unaware of this company, pronounced it "Keyzno's". Not "Kwizno's". Ordinarily, it wouldn't matter too much for someone to mispronouce something. But when your job is speaking, you would think you'd get it right.

Yesterday I walked outside as opposed to on the treadmill. I spent about an hour and a half out there. Today, I did 48 minutes, 46 seconds; 365 calories burned and 2.84 miles on the treadmill and then later on I went out and walked outside for about 40 minutes. I might go out again later. It just depends on how many flying bugs are out there to buzz around my head. I hate that.

I went shopping today. Aside from the usual things I buy on a weekly basis, I have begun buying things I will need once my parents move out and take all this stuff with them. I'm not buying everything all at once, just a few things here and there.
Round 2 of the US Open (golf) is on today. I'm watching a little bit of it.
There are some things around the house I need to do while I have these next five days off. The dogs need a bath, I need to vacuum, Fritz is shedding a lot. And I think I want to run the carpet cleaner again in the living room.

On to today's events:
I am stuffed! We had the team meeting today and most of us went to Pizza Hut for lunch and did the buffet thing. I ate way too much there. And then after the meeting, on the way back to our office, we stopped at Dairy Queen and I had a peanut buster parfait. I am so stuffed I can't get on the treadmill. I can't drink anything even though I'm dying of thirst because there's no more room in my tummy for anything, even ice cold water, which is what I'm wanting. I did get some crushed ice earlier and I think I will need more in a little bit.
Jo and Julie, our newest workers, try their best to play pranks on Tony but they always seem to tip their hand and he begins suspecting them, or they can't follow through to the end and do the prank justice and end up confessing what they did. Today, they devised a new prank to play on him next week when they go back to training. Well, during the meeting they told our regional manager that they will have a 'news event' for her to report in her weekly report after they come back from training. They were deliberately vague but pointed about it at the same time, which automatically makes Tony suspicious of them. I don't think he's going to fall for the prank this time. Plus, their forte seems to be in prank phone calls. Prank calls only work a couple of times.
We were informed today that we will be getting a new-ish dress code at work. People are ticked over it, but it isn't as bad as it could be. The only change I can see is that we can still wear jeans, they just can't be blue in color. And since I'm almost ready to buy smaller jeans anyway thanks to working out, I'm not all that upset about the dress code. Thankfully, I don't have to wear dresses and dress pants. Yuck. As long as jeans are acceptable, I'm fine with the dress code. And since the dress code did not exclude red pants and yellow shirts, I figure I can get even by following the dress code to the letter - hahaha!!! They will be begging me to wear blue anything after that. The state is in debt for millions of dollars, unemployment is a problem and there is no money in the pensions to pay retirees and the governor is worried about blue jeans. What an idiot. But at least he has a few more football games to watch since working out the deal for Marshall University to play WVU. Thank Goodness he solved that crisis. What would the state have done without a football game?
And it looks like dad may have to have surgery for his shoulder from when he fell off the roof. That means a possible three months of not doing anything while it heals. They buy a house and give me a glimmer of hope of letting me have alone time, and then this comes up. They can't move out if they can't move their furniture and they can't move furniture if dad can't do anything. GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! What's the point of having the new house if they can't live in it? I would move to their new house but I have to take care of my dogs and I'm not moving them into that house. The property isn't fenced and the dogs would wander off.
I'm off to get some more crushed ice...........

No-Bake Cookies
Here's a recipe for No-Bake Cookies:
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/3 cup cocoa
4 ounces butter (1 stick)
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups quick-cooking oats
PREPARATION:
Combine sugar, milk, cocoa, butter and peanut butter in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla and oatmeal and stir to blend thoroughly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Makes about 4 dozen no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies.
Warning: Wax paper melts to the dining table or any surface you lay it on when you drop these hot cookies onto it. I use freezer paper.

Update
I just found out that the Erika Jo cd will play on my computer without any stupid anti-piracy software. Thank goodness. I will be able to listen to it at work, which is where I mostly hear music. I read through the lyrics and credits and discovered some recognizable people wrote some of the songs Erika Jo sings, Katrina Elam and Rachel Proctor to name a couple. One thing does bother me - Erika Jo has no last name. She does, but she doesn't use it. That bothers me a bit. Maybe I'll get used to it. It will be interesting to find out where the cd debuts on the charts. Miranda Lambert, Nashville Star alum, debuted #1 on the charts.
35 minutes, 37 seconds; 2.02 miles; 259 calories burned on the treadmill tonight. I would have done more, but I got home late and mom and dad had to tell me about their day. Then I was hungry and we were going to get thunderstorms. So, I had to work out, take a bath, cook my dinner, feed the dogs and fix no-bake cookies for the team meeting we are having at work tomorrow.
Erika Jo, the Nashville Star winner, had her cd released today. I bought it. It sounds ok. It's one of those stupid cd's that you can't play on the computer without downloading software. And unfortunately, the cd player I used earlier skips. So, I did miss a few pieces of a couple of songs.

According to TVshowsondvd.com, the sci-fi show Space: Above and Beyond is coming to dvd. This is good news. I have only seen a few of the episodes, but what I did see was pretty good.
I made a couple of changes to the green box. I added the official Nick Faldo website in the Links Section. And I updated the Wishlist a bit. I'm going to have to think of new things to add. I've got plenty of house stuff I need to buy now that mom and dad will be moving into their new house, but that's just too much to list here. One of my parents' new neighbors have a donkey. I think I might add that to my wishlist. He was pretty cute.

Curious to find out what kind of golf was on tv today, I flipped through the channels and landed on ABC. Another Tiger Free Golf Weekend to enjoy with the added plus of Nick Faldo as a comentator. I was going to drag mom to see the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), but Tiger Free Golf shouldn't be missed. Plus 55 year old Tom Kite is currently in the lead of the tournament. Good for him. He only needs one more victory to be exempt for life on the Tour.
I got to see Mom and Dad's new house today. It's really small and needs a lot of cleaning. I took a lot of pictures with mom's digital camera. Since I refuse to install the software for the camera, I can't post any of the pictures or email them to anyone. I refuse because I have two separate digital cameras and neither of them work anymore because for some reason the software on this computer doesn't work. It all used to work, but not anymore. I'm tired of installing stuff on the computer only to have it not work.
Now that the house is officially Mom and Dad's, I will have to start thinking about buying all those things they will be taking with them when they move out. Microwave, computer, can opener - lots of things.

Groundhog Day
This week has seemed to drag on forever. I don't know what it is - whether it's the new testing I'm doing at work, or Tony being on vacation, or Mom and Dad closing on their new house tomorrow, or if it's just the first full week I've worked in probably a month with next week being a short week. I am ready to dispense with this week though. I think a part of it is that I'm completely off my routine. Before the tooth trouble I had a good routine of when to eat, when to work out, when to surf the internet, what to watch on tv, what to read - life was good and simple, the way it should be. But the tooth thing ruined that. I couldn't stick to my diet because I either couldn't chew any food or I threw up a lot, couldn't work out because I wasn't eating. I had to take unscheduled sick days off from work - another change in my routine. Hence, the title of this post - Groundhog Day, in reference to the movie. I haven't had many groundhog day moments lately.

Toilet Seat Covers
If a person is so afraid of germs that she needs to use a toilet seat cover, then why does she leave her used cover on the toilet seat for the next person to dispose of? You would think these seat cover users would do away with their own toilet seat cover. It's very rude to leave them for the next person. I'm sure the germ fearing people would hate to encounter a used cover when they enter go to use the toilet.

I spent another day testing new programming at work. I think I'm pretty much going to be testing the whole month of June except for the two or three days I'm taking off and the day we have for the team meeting. I found problems today. Any day you find problems with the programming is a good day. Otherwise it looks like you aren't working.
While I'm on the subject of the tv show Alias, check out this link and possibly help out the Pediatric Epilepsy Project. Many of the show's actors have contributed to this project.
I picked up the current issue of the US Weekly magazine today at the store. I think it's partly or fully tabloid as many of the articles allude to "a close friend" or "a source". But it has nice pictures of what the celebrities are wearing. Anyway, there is a 'report' in this current issue that Jennifer Garner has had enough of the bad tension caused by Ben Affleck being on the set all the time which affects her ex-boyfriend, Michael Vartan so the 'report' suggests that Garner may get Vartan's character killed off the show. If this 'report' is accurate (highly questionable) then I have a couple of points I'd like to make:
1. Michael Vartan has a purpose for being on the set - he works there. If anyone deserves to be there, it's him.
2. Since Ben Affleck is seemingly loitering, perhaps he should be arrested for loitering. He's not there for any official business, so he shouldn't be there.
3. Maybe Affleck should get off his rear and get a job of his own. There's nothing I hate more than an able-bodied man who lives off a woman's earnings.
4. There are some pretty scuzzy pictures in this magazine of Affleck which lead one to think he goes for days or weeks without bathing. He should clean himself up - maybe he'd be successful at #3.
All this being said, I will reiterate that this so-called report in this issue of US Weekly may or may not be legitimate, so keep in mind that the complete opposite could also be true and there may be no tension on the set and Affleck might actually have something to do with his day other than tagging along with Garner to her job.

Fred Couples almost won the Memorial Tournament today. Bart Bryant did win. Congratulations to Bryant, better luck next time Fred. The US Open is coming up in a week or two I think. Hopefully Fred will be playing and have a really good showing there.
One final thought on the Memorial Tournament - Jack Nicklaus really knows how to design a golf course. There was no runaway leader, no predominant characteristic of the course like fast greens or tough rough, everything was pretty much even out there which meant that golfers had to be tops in all areas of the sport to contend. This is how golf should be.

I watched part of the third round of the Memorial tournament today - PGA golf. Yes, Tiger Woods was on the air quite a bit, but he didn't have a good round so that gave the sportscasters a chance to talk about some other golfers. Thank goodness. Half the time, those sportscasters forgt there are 70 other players in the tournament. I picked a good day to watch since Fred Couples finished the day tied for the lead and will start in the primo spot of the last group tomorrow. I've been a Fred Couples fan for as long as I've watched golf. The first golf event I ever watched was a Skins game with Fred and three other famous players - I can't remember if it was Payne Stewart, Tom Kite, Greg Norman or John Daly - one of them wasn't in there since there are only 4 players in a Skins event. I think the toss up is between Norman and Daly, I'm pretty sure Payne Stewart and Tom Kite were in this event. Especially Payne Stewart as he was the all time money winner in the Skins events.

The tooth is finally gone! Mom and I got up at 5 am to get ready to drive the 40 miles to the oral surgeon. Dad made us leave at 6am for an 8am appointment. So, when we got down there to the office, we had an hour wait. The surgeon stuck four or five needles in me, without that nice numbing stuff that the local dentist used to numb the skin first. The numbing stuff the surgeon used was way weaker than anything the local dentist gave me. I was not impressed. I think the surgeon does this for the express purpose of having to put you to sleep because they get more money for putting you to sleep. An extra $200.00 to be exact. So, out I went (they used a shot rather than the gas that they give my sister) and the next thing I knew I was waking up in a different room with Mom sitting next to me. I finally got to eat something around 11am - KFC mashed potatoes - yum! Then I took a pain pill and slept off and on for a couple of hours. Watched a little golf - Tiger this, Tiger that - blah, blah, blah, then switched the tv over to watch Nicole Kidman on Oprah. Had some Chicken Noodle soup a little bit ago and I'm thinking that I can eat some of the birthday cake later on tonight :)

Tomorrow is Mom's birthday. So, because she will be spending part if not all of the day with me and the oral surgeon, I thought I would do something nice and buy her a birthday cake and a birthday pizza today to celebrate. And I think I did the same thing for Dad's birthday, so it evens out.
I have to start testing new programming at work on Monday. This will involve a lot more driving since the place where the testing will be done is about 30 miles away.
From the I Told You So file: Dad fell off the roof a couple months ago and I told him then to go to the doctor. He said, "A doctor can't do anything for this!" Well, today he found out that yes, the doctor can do something for it and it should have been done a while ago, according to the chiropractor. Why is it that people get more contrary and irritable as they get older?
Need to find some news on the Memorial Tournament (The PGA event near Columbus Ohio). It's a Tiger event, but I still may watch some of it this weekend. That and tennis. I don't know anyone playing tennis anymore, but that Rafael Nadal is pretty cute for a kid. And I like the cute commercials with Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

What a Coincidence
Just yesterday I was right here talking about Kevin Sites and tonight he shows up on the O'Reilly Factor being interviewed. I'm glad he's doing well.
