Nature = Frightening
I went to let Fritz outside because he was acting like he needed to go. I opened the door, and he ran out without looking, as usual. He ran right between two baby raccoons who were hissing and clawing around ferociously. In an effort to protect my baby (Fritz) I went out too and tried to shoo the raccoons off the porch. They were not intimidated, and continued to hiss. Fritz wanted to get after them, but I kept yelling at him. Eventually Fritz ran back into the house, I followed and shut the door tightly, leaving the raccoons to do whatever it was they wanted to do. They didn't eat any of the catfood, so I don't know what their purpose on the porch was. It was a bit scary with all that hissing and clawing the raccoons were doing. It reminded me of the Gremlins movie, or the little alien babies on Galaxy Quest. Considering raccoons are primarily nocturnal animals it was rare to see them in daylight. I think they might have lost their mom and are trying to fend for themselves. In a way I feel for the little guys, but they will be dead if Dad ever sees them - they are high on the list of rabies carriers. Not to mention, I'm sure it would really hurt if they clawed or bit me.
